How many times do you hear people say, “They had a really nice smile,” – it will be often. A nice smile showing healthy white teeth is part and parcel of your personality and in a way it defines who you are.

Because our major way of communicating is through speech, the face and mouth are the first places that people look when meeting you.  Healthy gums and well-cared for teeth tell a lot about you; they show that you are on top of your health, take pride in your appearance and care about yourself.

In the past few years we have been flooded with teeth whitening products that we can use at home; so what happened before they were on the shelves? A mix of good old baking soda and lemon juice did the trick, a trick that Julia Roberts still uses.

Teeth whiteners may enhance your smile but the foundation of a nice smile is good oral health and hygiene – no point brushing cosmetic whitener on teeth stacked like a crooked picket fence!

Even if you don’t have a specific dental problem it is recommended that you see your dentist every six months for an overall check up; like any medical problems, the earlier they are found the easier they are to deal with.

None of us are born perfect. If your teeth are an embarrassment to you and you shy away from smiling and laughing, you are missing out on one of life’s great pleasures. Visit your dentist and discuss with them what they can do to correct your teeth, and soon, you will be grinning like a Hollywood star!
